Zombies?

Zombies are a popular choice in the horror genre as they have an easy plot behind the story.

They used to be humans but they died and now come back from the dead.

It is easy to create a zombie for a movie, however we have got the time limit of 2 and a half minutes and I think that it would take longer to make a "Zombie Movie" introduction

Fast paced Cuts?

When there is a lot of cuts in a scene it gives the audience an adrenaline rush, This element has been used on every clip which I saw on YouTube, wheather it was a Horror clip or just a Action/Adventure clip.

Most of the cuts look even better when there is a handheld camara during the majoritiy of the cuts as it gives you the feel as if your in the moment of the action.

Religious References?

In horror movies there are a ton of religious references most famosly from: The Exosist, The Omen and The Unborn.

I think that adding  religious references into a horror movies could add a uniqe type of fear for people as some people fear religion as it is believed to be powerful and scraed, Also many people fear what lays on after the Grave.

It may seem a little silly but seeing the sucsess of The Exosist which in many polls has been rated as the most scary movie of all time.

Contact Lenses

As I have been looking through some horror movie scenes on YouTube  I have found that the eyes play an essential role in setting the heat of the moment, In horror sequences you would usually see at lease one close-up on the eyes.

I personally like the all-black contact which makes the eye look as if it belongs to a demon.

Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare (Music Video)

As I was thinking about through ideas for the horror movie a clip came to mind, The clip is a music video by a band called Avenged Sevenfold there are a lot of effects and make up used, which I think can help the introduction to the video give it more of that horror feel.

In the music video 0:00 - 0:26 there is a blurred effect used which makes it look as if it were a dream, also it makes a you think of a possible near death experience.

At 0:33 there is a one second close-up of the bloodshot eyes which I am going to look in more detail in the next post, however this image really does give a sign of danger.

In the music video the is a priest with The Holy Bible which brings a different type of horror feel which is traditionally used in some horror movies like the exorcist.

Meet the team

The group consists of three members: Me, Filip, Abdulaziz.

We chose to make a start of a movie and the genre of the movie is going to be horror because we feel that we could use our imagination a lot more.

We had been thinking to do an Action/Adventure movie as my two partners last for their GCSE Media done that genre but we all felt that we would like to be a bit more creative.

At the moment we are going through some famous horror movie intros and starting credits, and so far I have discovered that sometimes simple is better than overcomplicating it. The simple fact that how a single shot can change the feel to the whole clip.
